This movie comprises images recorded with the LASCO coronagraph on board the ESA/NASA SOHO spacecraft.

The movie includes images taken after 7 September, leading up to the coronal mass ejection (CME) event that occurred on 10 September. The big CME is close to the end of the movie, with the solar protons − a flood of subatomic particles − disturbing the images very soon after the CME.

The movie was made from images generated by the LASCO inner coronagraph, and show the solar corona close to the solar disc.
