To go forward to the Moon in a sustainable way, international agencies must not only develop missions, but also prepare astronauts for those missions through intensive training and identify the best technologies to overcome the challenges of lunar exploration.

As the first ever European commander of the International Space Station (ISS), Frank De Winne is now head of the European Astronaut Centre (EAC) and ISS programme manager for ESA. In this video he discusses how ESA astronauts and experts are working at EAC to train and prepare for lunar missions, as well as how initiatives like Spaceship EAC aid understanding of operational concepts and how new technologies could assist with sustainable exploration.
