- Description
In this video Stephen, Manfred and Carston talk about Blockchain and its role in satellite data.
Blockchain is a list of records known as ‘blocks’ which are linked using cryptography. Each block contains a cryptographic hash of the previous block, a timestamp, and transaction data.
There is potential for use of blockchain in EO, for example with the meta-data that is associated with the satellite itself, which includes the processing steps that took place with the satellite, where the data has gone and where was it originally down-linked from. Blockchain can also add trust to the data, in terms of selling access to it as well as owning and sharing the data.
