- Description
ESA-sponsored medical doctor Nick Smith captured this 24 hour time lapse at Concordia research station in Antarctica in February 2021. To the left, in the distance is the summer camp and skiway while the carpenter’s workshop is in the foreground. The time lapse also captures different layers of clouds and even a ‘whiteout’. At an altitude of 3233m, Concordia station experiences year round temperatures ranging from -23°C to -83°C. At a latitude of 75°S, the station doesn’t get any precipitation or real weather besides strong winds. The only thing that changes slightly (and slowly) is the level of light.
