    • Description

This animation shows Medicane Ianos crossing the Ioanian Sea, approaching Greece, using data from the Meteosat Second Generation (MSG) from 17 September to 18 September 2020. Medicanes are similar in form to hurricanes and typhoons, but can form over cooler waters. While hurricanes move east to west, medicanes move from west to east.
