      Gamma rays are a million times more energetic than visible light, and bring us information from the most violent phenomena occurring in nature.Due to be launched in 2001 by a Russian proton rocket, ESA's Integral [International Gamma-Ray Astrophysics Laboratory] satellite will detect gamma rays from the universe, something that is only possible from outside the Earth's atmosphere.
