- Description
On the 15 May 2000 SOHO observed the alignment of 4 planets, Mercury, Venus, Jupiter and Saturn - on the opposite side of the Sun. This video of the ESA TV Service starts with a 20 second video sequence of these planets entering the filed of view of the LASCO instrument of SOHO, and leaving it again after having disappeared behind the sun.
Futher SOHO highlights in the programme include various observations of the Sun's surface and phenomena by SOHO's EIT instrument that observes the Sun's radiation in the extreme ultraviolet, which is absorbed by the Earth's atomosphere and can only be observed by spaceborne insturments.
All video and animation sequences are slated and have been converted to a lenght convenient for use on television.01:00:33 Title Slates
