- Description
On the night of the 30 May the latest Shuttle mission to the International Space will be launched from Cape Canaveral. On board will be French astronaut Philippe Perrin, and the ESA developed Microgravity Science Glovebox (MSG). This is the first fully fledged experiment facility developed by ESA to be brought to the ISS.
This programme outlines the MSG and its utilisation, including soundbites by former astrounaut Ulf Merbold. MSG was developed by Astrium GmbH in Germany.
The 5-minute A-roll contains split audio with an English guide track and is complemented by a B-roll with international sound only.A-Roll Script

The next Space Shuttle to lift off to the International Space Station will be carrying a piece of important European hardware. The Microgravity Science Glovebox, MSG, will become ESA's first fully-fledged research facility to be integrated onto the ISS.
00:57
The idea behind the glovebox is to enable astronauts working on the station laboratories to handle a variety of materials and perform experiments such as combustion, fluids and biotechnology safely in the microgravity environment. Besides it can accommodate minor repairs and the servicing of hardware when necessary.
01:20
The glovebox consists of an enclosed space that provides physical isolation from the cabin environment, enabling crew members to manipulate the experiment hardware through gloveports.
The glovebox included in the MSG is the evolution of a concept already used in previous ESA payloads such as the MGBX, installed in the ESA-developed spacelab.
