Build your own Aeolus model
Aeolus Model Instructions
Print the page of Aeolus parts on an A4 size sheet of thick paper.
You will need some small scissors, a craft knife, a ruler and glue.
A - Body of the satellite
Cut out the body of the satellite.
Cut along the two red slits with the cutter.
Run the blunt side of the scissors along a ruler to score the body and flap fold lines.
Fold down all flaps.
B - Instrument
Cut out the instrument. Do not cut out the flaps.
Roll and bring B-2 to B-1 to make a cylinder.
Score the flap fold line.
Cut out the flaps.
Glue flap B-1 inside of B-2.
Fold inside the triangular tabs.
Glue the instrument on the body of the satellite in C-3, red arrow in front of red arrow.
C - Mirror
Cut out the mirror.
Glue inside the instrument, at the bottom of the cylinder, red arrow in front of red arrow.
B - Instrument
Glue the instrument to the body of the satellite, in A-4, red arrow in front of red arrow.
D - Interface ring
Cut out interface ring. Do not cut the flaps out.
Roll and bring D-2 to D-1 to make a cylinder.
Score the flap fold line.
Cut out the flaps.
Glue flap D-1 to the inside of D-2.
Fold inside the triangular tabs.
E – Tank beams
Cut out the tank beams.
Glue inside the interface ring.
D - Interface ring
Glue the interface ring to the body of the satellite in A-5, with the lines aligned.
A - Body of the satellite
Fold the 6 panels to make a box.
Glue first flap A-1 to the inside of the body.
Glue flaps A-2 (not A-3 !) to the inside of the body.
F & G - Solar arrays
Cut out solar arrays F and G, following the external dashed lines.
Glue solar array F onto solar array G, red arrow on top of red arrow and green arrow on top of green arrow, both blue faces upwards.
Slide the solar array into the two slots you cut in the body of the satellite, with their blue face towards the interface ring D and the white face towards the instrument B.
A - Body of the satellite
Close the body of the satellite.
Glue flaps A-3 to the inside of the satellite's body.
