The third Workshop on Satellite Navigation User Equipment Technology, Navitec 2006, took place from 11 to 13 December 2006 at ESA’s European Space Research and Technology Centre (ESTEC) in Noordwijk, the Netherlands.

Over 200 participants from around the world – space-borne and terrestrial satellite navigation equipment designers, developers, integrators and users, along with representatives from universities and national agencies, had an opportunity to share their technical expertise and experience by means of formal presentations, informal discussions and round tables.

Additionally, Navitec 2006 provided an overview of satellite navigation technologies that are available or are being developed, especially those that are the subject of current research and development programmes.

Special attention was also devoted to the integration of navigation technologies with communication devices and location-based services. Focus was also put on early Galileo receiver technologies and experimentation.

Attendees agreed that Navitec 2006 had provided a valuable forum for interaction with others working in their field.
