Revolutionising the telecoms market
An ESA Partnership Project called Eutelsat Quantum with Eutelsat, Airbus and Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd, is building a satellite that meets its reconfigurability requirements through its design. It is fitted with a wide-band adaptable and flexible payload which is controlled by a suite of powerful operational software, ensuring that the payload resources can be used as flexibly as possible.
The software tool predicts, operates and manages the on-board configuration and reconfiguration of the satellite.
This flexibility means more efficient use of satellite resources can be made, and those resources can be allocated in response to changing market needs and operator strategies.
The mission is being implemented under a public-private partnership between ESA and Eutelsat that aims to federate industry around large-scale programmes to achieve competitive leaps forward and economic impacts.
