This ASAR image mode scene shows the Rio Negro in Amazon Rain Forest at the border between Brazil and Colombia.
This image covers 100 km in width and was the first proper high-rate image to be acquired with the ASAR sensor. The image was received with great enthusiasm by teams throughout ESA, as it was the first confirmation of the high quality of the ASAR instrument and processing system.
