Envisat captures the province of Corrientes in northeastern Argentina and the Paraná River. Corrientes sits on the east bank of the Paraná (visible flowing from the top right down to the centre). The two white areas (visible at top centre) situated on the banks of the river are the capital cities of Corrientes (on the right) and Resistencia, the capital city of the Chaco province (the vast area visible to the west of the Paraná). Image acquired on 19 September 2007 by the Medium Resolution Imaging Spectrometer (MERIS) instrument aboard ESA’s Envisat satellite.
