This interferogram derived from Envisat radar data from January 2009 to April 2010 shows the Main Ethiopian Rift, which contains a chain of volcanoes, faults and lakes (in black). The concentric rings (fringes) around the volcanoes Alutu, Corbetti and Bora indicate deformation. Each ring corresponds to 2.8 cm of motion in the satellite’s line of sight.
