The image shows the Fraction of Absorbed Photosynthetically Active Radiation, FAPAR, over Europe. FAPAR is a biophysical variable related photosynthesis and used to estimate carbon dioxide in plants. The map was generated using data from the MERIS instrument from March 2011–April 2012. Data such as these are provided through the GMES land services.
