Exploration Flight Test-1

An artist’s impression of the Orion spacecraft. Orion’s first test flight on 5 December 2014 lasted only 4.5 hours and did not include a crew. The full functionality that the European Service Module will provide was not needed. Instead, the service module flying on Exploration Flight Test-1, was built by Lockheed Martin and was primarily a structural representation of the full module.
