ESA astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti using one of ESA’s space freezers on the International Space Station during her Futura mission in 2015.
Samantha commented: “This is one of our MELFI freezers, where we keep samples like urine, blood or saliva, but also cold bricks that will prevent samples from getting too warm during the trip home. The drawers are typically kept at around –90°C – gloves are a must!”
