ESMOD Berlin exterior

The ESMOD Berlin International University of Art for Fashion is one of five European design schools participating in Couture in Orbit.

ESMOD is a highly international school, with two thirds of the students from outside of Germany. Around 20 students worked on the Couture in Orbit project in parallel to their normal semester work, with mainly the slightly more experienced students from Germany and internationally taking part.

ESA representatives came to Berlin to introduce us to the Earth observation and climate change theme to begin the project. From there, the students applied their creativity to the concept in some mind-bending ways. 

For 25 years ESMOD Germany has been shaping and educating the future generation of designers, and inspiring students from various countries and cultures. ‘Learning by doing’ is the education philosophy we follow, and indeed, ESMOD schools worldwide, every year, are providing the world of fashion with promising graduates. The intensive Bachelor of Arts Fashion Design and Pattern Making/Draping programme endeavours to strengthen and encourage the students´ exploration of technical awareness, craftmanship and design expertise through interdisciplinary investigations and project collaborations, thus facilitating the successful entry into the international fashion industry.
