Mr Per Tegnér was born in Stockholm, Sweden, on 22 April 1944. He studied at the Stockholm School of Economics, where he obtained his Masters Degree in Economics. After working for more than 25 years with the Swedish Ministry of Industry, he was appointed Director General of the Swedish National Space Board in 1998. Mr Tegnér became an ESA Council delegate in June 1998, first leading the Swedish delegation, and then serving as ESA Council Chair from 2002 to 2005. He later served as Vice-chair for two more years before returning as acting Council Chair from 2007 to 2008. Mr Tegnér passed away in June 2018, aged 74.
