Oxygen extraction from lunar regolith simulant under vacuum conditions

During his internship within the Spaceship EAC team, Sebastian Rohde worked on a method for extracting oxygen from lunar regolith, or moon dust, at ESA's Astronaut Centre in Cologne. This picture shows the experiment set up for oxygen extraction from lunar regolith simulant with the help of a special ionic liquid under temperature controlled high vacuum conditions.
