Destination Moon

The Moon has long been a prime exploration target. A permanent presence on the Moon would open up new opportunities and provide a test bed and springboard to venture farther into the Solar System.

Bold ambitions foresee humans exploring the polar regions hand-in-hand with robots, in international cooperation and with commercial partners. Europe is now building hardware for this new frontier.

Through international partnership humankind is building a lunar Gateway that will orbit the Moon. ESA is providing significant elements for the lunar Gateway including the international habitation module plus other advanced technology.
