Autumn foliage in the central Apennines, Italy, is visible in this image captured by the Copernicus Sentinel-2 mission on 17 October.
Lower temperatures and decreasing daylight hours have triggered the 2022 autumn foliage in the central Apennines around the Fucino valley in Abruzzo, Italy. The shades of orange and red depend mainly on the local weather, altitude and orientation of the slopes. The small mountainous town of Pescasseroli, a famous winter destination in central Italy, and the lake of Barrea are visible.
