Sulphur dioxide concentrations from Mount Etna, Italy

This image uses data from the Copernicus Sentinel-5P satellite and shows sulphur dioxide concentrations from the recent eruption at Mount Etna, Italy. The sulphur dioxide concentrations reached as far as the neighbouring Greece. Sulphur dioxide is released from a volcano when magma is relatively close to the surface.
