Refurbishing the ISS combustion rack

In this timelapse taken inside the International Space Station in the Destiny Module ESA astronaut Paolo Nespoli is seen busy refurbishing the Combustion Integrated rack (CIR), dedicated to the study of the combustion process and fire safety in microgravity.

The CIR was launched to the International Space Station (ISS) in November 2008 by the Space Shuttle (STS-126) and is now used for the ACME experiment (Advanced Combustion via Microgravity Experiment) that focus on gaseous fuels combustion.

ESA astronaut Paolo Nespoli in currently working and living on board the International Space Station as part of the Italian Space Agency’s long duration VITA mission.
