Space medicine 2011 - How to apply?

Within the scope of the response to this AO, the applicant should;

 

  1. Acquire and review several related peer reviewed articles on the task(s) to be undertaken.

     

  2. Write a proposal of between 1 and 4 A4 pages in length outlining a potential ‘solution’ to the task(s) in question.

     

  3. This feasibility proposal should be written in English and be submitted by email to mareike.czybulka@spacemed.net using the downloadable application form.

     

  4. This feasibility study may be pursued in more depth during the workshop, should the applicant be accepted

How to apply

  1. Indicate which task you would like to pursue (up to two tasks are possible).

     

  2. For each task, hand in a proposal for a solution/plan of 1 – 4 pages in length, containing the following elements:

    • Background (up to 1 page): Field of interest, issues to be aware of, details of current solutions (if any).
    • Solution (up to 2 pages): General details, concept, technical considerations.
    • Implementation (up to 1 page): Requirements for implementation, boundary conditions for use.

     

  3. All proposals should be submitted using font sizes between 10 and 12, single spaced and with figures attached as pdf documents (figures do not count towards the page count).

     

  4. Fill in the application form.

     

  5. Send proposal(s) and completed application form by email to: mareike.czybulka@spacemed.net. Applications have to be submitted no later than 6 May 2011.

Organisation, travel and accommodation

  • Each applicant will be notified whether his or her application has been successful by 13 May 2011.

     

  • Accommodation at the Cologne youth hostel including breakfast will be booked and paid for by the organiser, as well as daily transport from the hostel to the European Astronaut Centre and back. Students will be asked to share 3- or 4-bedded, male only/female only rooms, each with their own WC and shower facilities.   • Candidates are required to make and cover the cost of their own travel arrangements to and from Cologne. Students are also responsible for covering the cost of lunch and dinner.
