Canadian industry opportunities with ESA
In 2023, Canada’s contribution to ESA programmes amounts to 0.4 percent, or €19 million of the total budget, giving Canadian industry the opportunity to participate in European telecommunications, Earth observation, exploration, navigation, technology and space safety activities.
ESA recently hosted a webinar alongside the Canadian Space Agency (CSA) and the Canadian Trade Commissioners Office for space- and non-space based Canadian companies interested in doing business with Europe’s space industry. It focused on opportunities in the sectors of optics and photonics, instrumentation and telescopes, satellite technologies and Earth observation technologies.
It was not mandatory for companies to have had prior experience in the space industry to participate in this event and benefit from the content.
The aim of the webinar was to:
- demonstrate past, present and future ESA activities in the domains of optics and photonics.
- explain how Canadian companies can register and make use of ESA's online esa-star tendering platform to bid on opportunities, find partners, and otherwise engage with other industrialists in ESA Member States and network using the esa-star B2B platform.
- present the Trade Commissioners Office which is based in The Hague in the Netherlands, and explain how they can help Canadian industry to expand their presence in Europe.
- present ESA, the relationship that it has with the CSA and how this defines potential Canadian participation in opportunities.
