Go to topicAn example of a coloured satellite image: a false colour composition. The image has been taken by Landsat in 3 bands with one being outside the range visible to the human eye. The infrared band is displayed in red, the red band in green and the green band in blue. The result is an image with colours that look unnatural or false. This type of image is very useful to study vegetation.
