ESA’s technical experts in the Directorate of Technical and Quality Management, in coordination with mission designers in the Science and Robotic Exploration Directorate and the Human Spaceflight and Operation Directorate and with the support of the Directorate of Policies, Planning and Control, have prepared long-term roadmaps of technologies required for advanced robotic and human exploration .A one-day Space Exploration Technologies Workshop at ESTEC, the Agency technical centre in Noordwijk, the Netherlands, co-organised with Eurospace the main space industry organisation in Europe gathered together representatives from leading European aerospace companies to give their own reactions to the draft technology roadmaps. The workshop was also attended by Delegates of the ESA Human Spaceflight, Microgravity and Exploration Programme Board (PB-HME).
Speakers, co-ordinated by Eurospace, included Astrium Satellites and ST, Areva, Deimos, QinetiQ, Safran, SELEX Galileo and Thales Alenia Space.
