A mesmerising audiovisual experience from trip-hop collective Massive Attack that blends an original score with stunning satellite images of Earth was enjoyed by thousands of climate enthusiasts this weekend in Liverpool.
The multimedia arrangement – created through a collaboration between ESA and Massive Attack bandmember Robert “3D” Del Naja – formed part of a three-day celebration to mark Liverpool’s recently awarded status as the UN’s very first accelerator city for climate action. You can watch the full video on the ESA Extras YouTube channel.
Based exclusively on satellite images and accompanied by an original score by the band Massive Attack, this video takes you on a journey to some of the most beautiful, remote places on Earth, many of which are already affected by environmental change: melting glaciers, rising sea levels, rainforests threatened by deforestation, growing desertification affecting croplands, and uncontrolled urban sprawl.
Original Score "CelestialCTV" by Robert Del Naja & Euan Dickinson. Contains Copernicus Sentinel-2 images.
