Microvisk technology is based on a Micro Electro Mechanical System (MEMS) chip, embedded on a disposable test strip. The MEMS chip incorporates a small and very efficient bimorph cantilever, which pulses to achieve high-sensitivity with very little energy. The technology originated from research into the use of MEMS on spacecraft and space stations.
