ALEASAT is a 1U CubeSat which, in collaboration with the Radio Amateurs of Canada, will capture on-demand images of Earth from low-earth orbit and down-link them directly to amateur radio operators, providing the amateur radio community with a training satellite to assist in disaster mitigation and relief.

The project, overseen by the University of British Columbia (UBC), is jointly designed and built by the UBC Orbit and SFU Satellite design teams, which come from UBC and Simon Fraser University (SFU) respectively, in Vancouver, Canada.

The team is also supported by two UBC faculty advisors. In addition to its amateur radio mission, ALEASAT will provide multidisciplinary learning opportunities to many UBC and SFU students, while democratizing access to space and promoting public interest in space exploration.
