| | | | | | | | Landsat TM image of the Ny Ålesund area acquired on 23 July 2006 | | Purpose of the exercise
In this exercise you will use a section of a Landsat TM image of the Ny Ålesund area taken on 23 July 2006. The image has 6 channels, from blue to shortwave infrared. In this exercise you will investigate how the reflectance varies through all these sections of light for different surface types, and if it is possible to tell, from this variation, what surface type can be found on the ground. Data In this exercise you have Landsat TM data from 23 July 2006 available in the following files:
tm_23july2006.tif: Multi-channel file with Landsat TM channels 1-7. Channel 6 is not included so that channel 7 is actually the 6th channel in the file. GeoTiff format, UTM projection. tm_23july2006_1.tif ... tm_23july2006_7.tif: Single-channel files of the channels 1-7 (without 6) that are identical to the content of the multi-channel file, but as individual files. Some processes in LEOWorks require multi-channel files, some single-channel files, as you will see in the exercises. | |
